Did you know that approximately a third of all child sexual abuse is committed by other kids? (Finkelhor, Ormrod, & Chaffin, 2009). As we collectively work to prevent child abuse and promote community safety, it is essential that we appropriately identify and respond to children with problematic sexual behavior (PSB).
This presentation provides an overview of children with problematic sexual behavior including the origins of their behaviors as well as facts that dispel common myths about this population. Come alongside Dr. Shields as she talks about available outpatient, community based treatment as well as ways professionals can help.
This presentation was originally given at the Prevent Child Abuse America Conference on August 11, 2021. For additional information on children with PSB, please visit the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth at www.ncsby.org/
Wishing you and your loved ones well,
